With temperatures reaching over 105 this weekend, and it only being June, Phoenicians are looking at the next 4 months as being very, very long. Let’s face it, the heat is exhausting, makes afternoons miserable for being outside, and well, simply HOT! If you are fortunate enough to have a swimming pool, some reprieve may be available. But sometimes, you just are in need of cooler temperatures and the smell of pine trees. Prescott, (pronounced PRES-kət) is a perfect solution! Only an hour and a half away, Prescott is a great day trip or weekend get-a-way.
The former capital of the Arizona Territory has awesome Victorian style architecture, a very cute downtown, and pristine Plaza area historic Courthouse ,and none other than legendary Whiskey Row. June bodes quite a few art festivals and concert series, sure to be a good time. Be sure to check out the historic Elks Theater while you’re at it!
If it’s been too hot for you to golf, hike or mountain bike, Prescott also has all of these great outdoor amenities. The City of Prescott has some great trail resources, and there are also some awesome public and private golf courses available.
No matter what you do, Prescott has something for everyone! So when the Sonoran Desert heats up, take the opportunity to head up north to experience a true slice of the Wild West in Prescott, AZ.
